Spotlight is the ultimate sidekick app for music festival goers.
Helping them to find their groups, see what’s playing, navigate the chaos, and never miss a moment.
My process
As part of my user research, I created a persona, looked into similar apps , built a user journey, and talked to people who go to festivals. I also did some field research in crowded places to understand how people move around and connect in busy environments.
User problem
People travel for them, camp out for days, and live the moment. In crowded festival environments, users often lose track of their friends and struggle to regroup. As a result, people miss parts of the event, lose their sense of orientation, and experience frustration during moments meant to be enjoyable.
The main struggles?
Getting lost
Losing track of your friend
Missing out on shows
My challnges
One of the main challenges in this project was finding a way for users to physically understand where their friends are located within a dense festival crowd.
Since traditional navigation methods like standard maps aren’t effective in such environments, I had to explore alternative, intuitive solutions for real-time friend tracking. Another key challenge was designing a brand and app interface that is not only clear and functional, but also keeps users in the vibrant, energetic vibe of a festival. The design needed to remain visually accessible under changing light conditions, and be easy to use in crowded areas of the events.
Solution
Improving the festival experience by helping users navigate the festival, find their friends, track live schedules, and receive real- time updates – all in one place.
AR Camera

Live compass

Meeting points
Users can drop a flag pin on the map to mark a shared meeting point

Tone
The tone of voice is friendly, casual, and positive. The goal is to reassure, guide, and help- not to overwhelm or confuse, I used familiar festival phrases and clear instructions for keeping the festival vibes.
logo
The logo combines the shape of a spotlight beam with a flowing S– like path, inspired by navigation, movement, and light. It represents the core idea of the app: finding your way and reconnecting with friends through smart, visual guidance.
